Nora Hill wakes up every day feeling inspired. She is inspired by her kids, she is inspired by her husband, and she is inspired by helping people reach their potential.

It is only natural that Nora felt called to become a CASA Volunteer.

“Besides raising my kids and my family, my purpose is to be a CASA Volunteer,” said Nora. “My purpose as a human is to help someone else in life to thrive.”

While Nora is fulfilling this purpose, she is also thriving as a result. She says that she learns something new every day, and her assigned CASA youth have been a driving force of this.

“They have literally changed my life and my views,” she said. “They teach me how to see things from their own eyes, and I can see how they grow, change, and mature.”

The bond between Nora and her assigned CASA youth, two young women, is extremely special. They spend time every week catching up, singing, and laughing a lot.

“We all speak the same language, and that has helped create a strong bond,” explained Nora. “We have our own lingo. We mix Spanish and English, sing songs, and are so silly together.”

Nora’s involvement as a CASA Volunteer has not come without challenges. The young women she supports have been through several changes throughout the course of the case, including placements, caseworkers, attorneys, and more. Nora has been the one constant.

“They told me that as long as I am here, anywhere feels like home. They can move from house to house, but if I am with them, they feel safe,” said Nora with a smile. “That is the bond. That is a stable place. It’s when I realized how important the CASA job is.”

When Nora is not dedicating her time to CASA, she is working full-time, baking with her children, reading, traveling, and singing karaoke. It seems that each area of Nora’s very full life compliments the others seamlessly, and she radiates gratitude for it all.

“If you do what you love, you can do anything,” said Nora.

Nora strives to lead by example for both her biological children and her assigned CASA children, hoping that they can all experience lives of purpose and joy. She knows that serving as a CASA Volunteer is setting a good example for her own children, demonstrating that they have something to give to the community.

“My husband told me that my face after my CASA visits says it all,” said Nora. “He said, ‘To see your face when you come back from visits is my motivation to always support you.’”

While Nora may wake up every day feeling inspired by those around her, so many others are waking up every day feeling inspired by Nora.
